Polaris RZR Roofs
Noon on an open dune run puts the sun straight overhead with no shade for miles, and a July squall can soak a trail ride in about 90 seconds. A roof is the cheapest fix for both. The RZR roofs on this page run from Extreme Metal Products' ¼-inch black polyethylene Cooter Brown top with a built-in LED dome light to .090-inch powder-coated aluminum from UTV Zilla, plus .200 high-density polyethylene hard tops by Trail Armor. None of them is a crash structure. What they do is block sun, rain, hail, branches and the gravel your buddy throws up ahead of you, and they do it for less than most people spend on a set of mirrors and a light bar.
Fitment on a RZR roof comes down to three things: your model, your seat count and whether you still run the factory visor. The XP 1000 (2014 through 2022), XP Turbo (2016 through 2021), 1000 S (2016 through 2020) and 900 Trail, S and XC (2015 through 2020) share a two-seat aluminum roof from UTV Zilla. The Pro XP and Turbo R take their own tops, including a Kemimoto aluminum roof built for that cage. The 570, 800 and XP 900 from the 2008 through 2017 run take the older EMP and Moose poly roofs. Most of these mount off the stock Polaris visor, so if you have swapped cages or removed the visor, the fit changes. What Separates a Roof That Stays Quiet From One That Rattles?
Three tells separate a roof worth buying from one you will take back off. First, the mounting interface. The good ones are designed around a specific attachment point, either the Polaris OEM hard plastic visor or the roll bar itself, and they ship with every bolt and clamp in the box. Trail Armor's hard top mounts to the factory visor and runs back to the roll-cage lines. UTV Zilla's aluminum roofs cover from the front edge of the stock visor and extend past the rear roll bar. A roof that only touches the cage in two places is the one that talks to you at 40 mph.
Second, the hardware itself. UTV Zilla's Pro XP roof uses black stainless steel bolts and washers, which matters more than it sounds if your machine lives outside. If you have gone to an aftermarket cage or pulled the visor for a windshield swap, the roof you want may be a different part number. Check your RZR windshield setup before you order, because roof and windshield have to agree at the same seam.

Will an aftermarket roof fit my stock cage and visor?
Most of the roofs here are designed around the factory Polaris setup. UTV Zilla's aluminum roofs mount using the stock visor, and Trail Armor's hard top is built to mount to the Polaris OEM hard plastic visor. If you run an aftermarket cage or have removed the visor, the mounting points change and you likely need a different roof. Send us your year, model and cage setup and we will confirm it before you buy.
Do aluminum RZR roofs rattle?
They rattle when they are under-mounted, not because they are aluminum. The roofs here ship with every bolt, clamp and washer needed and they clamp at multiple points across the cage rather than two. UTV Zilla's tops cover from the stock visor back past the rear roll bar, which spreads the load. Poly runs quieter in heavy rain if noise is your main concern.
Aluminum or poly for my kind of riding?
Aluminum at .090 inch is thinner overhead and sits lower, which helps in trailers and under branches, and it takes powder coat and stainless hardware well for machines stored outside. Poly at ¼ inch or .200 HDPE is quieter in rain, more forgiving of a branch strike, and it is what you want if you plan to add a graphics kit. Neither is a rollover structure. Both stop sun, rain, hail and debris.
Are aftermarket RZR roofs as good as the Polaris OEM roof?
OEM sells you one well-made roof in one material. The aftermarket gives you that build quality from several makers, usually for less, in materials and styles Polaris does not offer. Will a roof work with my windshield?
Usually, but check the seam. Roof and windshield meet at the same point on the cage, so the two have to be compatible. The Kemimoto top is built to clear the windshield line.
