All About The 2021 Polaris RZR Lineup

Speculators be damned! The 2021 Polaris RZR model release has dropped, and all the information about the 2021 lineup of RZR vehicles has available for quite some time now. Upon first glance, the changes and updates Polaris made to their 2021 Razor lineup may have appeared to be marginal. And although the basic platform was kept consistent with what we saw in the previous years, Polaris did make a few changes to their 2021 RZR fleet. So what changed exactly between the the 2020 and 2021 Polaris RZR lineup? Let’s find out.

Aesthetic Changes To The 2021 Polaris RZR Lineup

When perusing through the 2021 editions of the Polaris RZR XP, the RZR Pro, and the RZR 4, the first thing you’ll probably notice is the different color schemes when compared to 2020 RZRs. In addition to some trim enhancements, Polaris also introduced colors like Sport Performance Red, Premium Onyx Black, and Ultimate Matte Titanium Metallic. The 2021 RZR XP 1000 Trails and Rocks edition comes in only one color, which is perfect for those that suffer from choice anxiety. And with the Lifted Lime color on the 2021 Polaris RZR Turbo S, one can’t help but to think that the engineers heard “highlighter” instead of “High Lifter”. But aside from the decals and color changes, Polaris did make some functional improvements to their 2021 RZR fleet.

What Changes Were Made To Which 2021 Polaris RZR Editions?

For the taller guys out there struggling with the harnesses on their RZR 4-seater Turbo, the harness bar on the 2021 version is higher up above the seat. While it was unclear before the drop date whether Polaris was still using Subzero harnesses, or if they switched over to Click 6 harnesses, but what was clearly evident was that the harness bar is positioned higher. We now know that they stuck with Subzero harnesses. 

Aside from changing the name “Base” to “Sport” and getting rid of the wider 72” RZR Pro models, Polaris decided to put the Pro XP clutches in the regular 2021 XP Turbo and Turbo S RZR editions. The tender springs on the 2021 Polaris RZR Pro XP were also updated, giving riders improved suspension and a plusher ride compared to the older spring versions.    

Moving on to interior upgrades, Ride Command and Rockford Audio systems are now standard in the 2021 RZR Pro XP Premium, and changes were made to the new factory heating units as well. Speaking of new factory accessories, improved aluminum doors, upper doors, and rear light bars are also optional additions that one can request on their 2021 RZR.     

From the images released by Polaris back in 2020, one could have made some conjectures about the 2021 Polaris RZRs. Aside from different colors on the seats, the basic interior of the 2021 RZR looked to be the same as previous years (which turned out to be true). And although the headers might suggest that changes were made to the engine, this appears not to be the case. What we know now, however, is that lighter stock wheels are going to be included, rear shock guards are going to be added, and a new air intake material is going to be used to improve cooling. 

Closing Thoughts On The 2021 Polaris RZR Lineup

For some, the alterations made to the 2021 Polaris RZR lineup were insufficient at convincing them to upgrade. After all, aftermarket clutches are available for better shifting, aftermarket wheels are easy to come by for less unsprung weight, and aftermarket wraps can be installed for exterior aesthetics. While bold new graphics and a trickle charging port might have enticed a few RZR owners to update, the lack of rebates pushed others to either sit tight or upgrade to pre-2021 models of the RZR. At the end of the day, the only opinion that matters is your own. And if you’ve got the funds to pop on a 2021 Polaris RZR, don’t be afraid to send it. Whatever you decide, however, just remember that when in doubt, throttle it out!
