Fender Flares and Protection

If you’re romping through the mud on the regular, splashing around in swampland, or hitting it hard in the dunes, running a solid set of fender flares on your Polaris ACE will keep dust, dirt, water, and sand out of the cab and off the sides of your Sportsman. Fender flares and fender flare extensions are especially useful for riders who run wheel spacers, as a wider wheelbase necessitates extended fenders to be effective at blocking earth. We’ve seen some ACE owners run the Polaris branded fenders on their rigs, but we’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback about the Rokbloks fender flares. They are super strong/thick, and they work great, taking about an hour or so to install. Like Rokbloks, EMP is another aftermarket side-by-side parts provider that makes an exceptional fender for the Sportsman. Not only are their fender kits functional, but they look downright mean as well.

Depending on what Polaris ACE model you have -- be it the XC or SP -- and the aftermarket accessories you run, you might have to trim the front or rear fenders so that they fit around things like large rear bumpers and protruding aftermarket grills. If you’re feeling really inspired, you can make your own ACE fenders out of household materials. Using some Husky liner 36" "Long John" mud flaps, a bit of angle iron or aluminum, and a whole lot of ingenuity, you can make your own Sportsman fenders. Start by cutting the angle aluminum into about three- or four-inch pieces so that they fit perfectly on the inside side lip of the factory fender flares. Drill two holes in each for plastic rivets, which will give the final product a cleaner look. Then underneath you can screw through the mud flap and into the other side of the aluminum. Trim where needed -- especially in the front, outer-lower corner as it has a tendency to catch on things -- and you’re golden. You might want to carry some extra rivets just in case you pop one on the trail, but all in all your homemade ACE fender flares should do the trick if you build em right. But for those without the time, skill, or desire to fabricate their own Polaris fender flares, we’ve got you covered. After all, if you want the best of the best, you gotta go with the pros. And at Everything Polaris RZR, we offer nothing but the best of the best for you and your Polaris Sportsman Ace.
